The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has applied for a loan from the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) to finance
the project and the NIB has agreed to finance the project provided that the bid will fulfill the mutual interest of the Socialist
Republic of Sri Lanka and NIB’s member countries. It is intended that part of these funds will be applied to eligible
payments under the Contract for New Galle Transmission development Project. Bidding is open to all eligible bidders, who
shall be preferably from the Nordic/Baltic countries. If the bidder is not from Nordic/Baltic countries, the main part of the
supplies (not less than 50% of the content) needs to be sourced in the Nordic/Baltic countries.
