There have been a number of high profile news stories in recent months which have highlighted the need for organisations to fully understand and adhere to the Data Protection Act.

The two most notable cases have involved British Gas and Humberside Police. Both organisations were registered with the Information Commissioner but both were accused of being over zealous in their interpretation of the act. As a result of these cases a number of reviews are currently underway which will hopefully result in the avoidance of similar future events.

To ensure local business can fully understand the Data protection Act MERIT is pleased to announce that we will be running a full day interactive workshop on Tuesday 20th April 2004.

The content of this workshop will include:

Are you working legally? How to understand and implement the Data Protection Act 1998
