The Construction Statistics Annual, conveniently brings together under one cover a wide
range of statistics that are currently available on the construction industry.
The 2006 Edition updates the figures given in the Department of Trade and Industry’s
Construction Statistics Annual 2005, which was published in October 2005. These give a
broad perspective of statistical trends in the construction industry in Great Britain through
the last decade together with some international comparisons and features on leading
initiatives which may influence the future. This publication is also available on the

We believe the compendium of statistics and other data in this edition make it essential
reading for all those engaged in planning the future workload and other activities which go
to make up the Construction Industry in Great Britain.
Our thanks go to the contributors, too many to list here, and in particular to our colleagues
in the Scottish Executive, Welsh Assembly Government, the National Assembly for Wales
and the Northern Ireland Assembly without whose contributions publication of
Construction Statistics Annual would not have been possible.
