Manoj Ranaweera, 39, came to Britain from Sri Lanka in 1988 to study Electronic Engineering at Brighton University before taking up roles in engineering, project management, business development and operational management with multinational firms Parsons Brinckerhoff and Parsons Corporation.
Manoj’s foray into the digital world began in 2004 after returning to education as a mature student to study an MBA at the Manchester Business School. He soon realised he needed to build a strong on-line presence to make an impact within the UK’s digital community and set about establishing himself as a thought leader in digital business through his blog at www.manojranaweera.com (one of the top English language blogs on finance automation through e-invoicing/EIPP technologies).
He also set up www.nwstartup20.co.uk to bring together the digital community of the North by providing a monthly environment for entrepreneurs, investors, deal makers and service providers to meet and share experiences in an informal setting.
In April 2007, Manoj founded www.edocr.com with the ambition of building a global brand by bringing social interactivity to business documents. To help ensure the success of the venture, Manoj is working with some of the brightest technological minds in the North and with whom he is now planning the launch of a second, revenue generating version of edocr.
Today, Manoj also offers his expertise through evigon Ltd, a niche management consultancy helping startups to large corporates by providing business advisory services in the areas of financial automation, on-line marketing strategies and rapid development of software products. He also runs eveo Ltd, a one-stop-shop for event management.
