LEHMAN BROTHERS ANNOUNCES NEW CO-HEADS OF INVESTMENT BANKING FOR EUROPE AND THE MIDDLE EAST

LONDON, September 8, 2008 – Lehman Brothers, the global investment bank, today named
Alexis de Rosnay and William Vereker as co-heads of the Investment Banking Division for
Europe and the Middle East. In their new roles they will report to Riccardo Banchetti and
Christian Meissner, co-CEOs of Europe and the Middle East and Hugh (“Skip”) E. McGee III,
global head of Investment Banking. Messrs. de Rosnay and Vereker will become members of
the Firm's Europe and Middle East Executive Committee and the Global Investment Banking
Executive Committee.

Mr. de Rosnay was most recently global co-head of Healthcare in the Investment Banking
Division. Throughout his career, Mr. de Rosnay has advised on a number of high profile
healthcare transactions for key clients including companies such as GSK, Novartis and Astra
Zeneca. He joined the Firm as head of Healthcare Investment Banking for Europe in November
2004 from JP Morgan.

Mr. Vereker was previously global co-head of Power and head of Natural Resources for Europe
and the Middle East. He has served as an adviser to many of the world's largest energy
companies including Suez, E.on, Vale, ENI, International Power and EDF, and has advised on a
number of recent landmark transactions such as the merger of Suez and Gaz de France and the
sale of Endesa. Mr. Vereker joined Lehman Brothers in 2005 from Morgan Stanley.

Commenting on the appointments, Skip McGee said, “Alexis and William have outstanding
track records in investment banking and are recognized leaders in building and strengthening
relationships with some of the most important clients globally. Each has played an instrumental
role in the growth and development of our European Investment Banking franchise and I am
confident that with these expanded responsibilities they will help continue to build our European
business.”
