Category 5E is recommended for all new installations, supports a frequency range of up to 100MHz and is designed for transmission speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gigabit Ethernet).

There have been a number of high profile news stories in recent months which have highlighted the need for organisations to fully understand and adhere to the Data Protection Act.

The two most notable cases have involved British Gas and Humberside Police. Both organisations were registered with the Information Commissioner but both were accused of being over zealous in their interpretation of the act. As a result of these cases a number of reviews are currently underway which will hopefully result in the avoidance of similar future events.
