As we all try and tighten our belts as we endure the recessionary period, many companies are looking for ways to continue with their current software development roadmap, but somehow manage to get everything done for a lower cost than they have been paying previously. Everyone has heard of "offshore software development", but most people react to that with "I've heard so many horror stories about that" or "I wouldn't know where to start", so, with that in mind, I'll give my own view of how to make a success of outsourcing your software development.
