profitable concentration of chemicalmanufacturers in the UK.
The region’s 650 chemicals-related businesses generate
total annual sales of £10 billion and employ more than
50,000 people.
Its strength in this field is encapsulated by the list of major
chemicals companies who operate here, including Shell,
AstraZeneca, Brunner Mond, INEOS, Unilever, PZ Cussons,
FUJI and Innovia. In total, around 60 per cent of the world’s
