This quarter has been a mixed bag with VC tech investment levels well-down in most parts of Europe with only $630m invested across the region but the number of investments held reasonably steady. Deal sizes are ominously low and in the UK the average deal size slipped below $5M for the first time since Q2 2004. The US however had a barnstorming quarter with nearly $5bn of capital deployed in this period - the biggest quarter for tech investment since the Calibre One Index started six years ago.
