National or universal health care may be seen as an acceptable function of government, by those who believe this, because most believe everyone has a right to heath care. But do we?

Everywhere I turn, I see, read and hear how capitalism has destroyed the American economy. The political Left blames capitalism outright, while the political Right claims capitalism is the American ideal. The elitists in banking, government, academia and the media give lip-service to the idea of a free market, when they, in fact, have no use for it. The real purpose of claiming that free markets are the American ideal is to give the collectivist a scapegoat to blame for all their nefarious wealth redistribution programs.

Back then, “Paper money” would not be accepted as a “medium of exchange” unless it was backed by something of proven value such as gold or silver.

I’m sure we all would like to believe that our government can create prosperity by simply handing out more money. Wouldn’t it be great if, like the businesses “too big to fail”, we could all receive big government bail-outs? But why do they stop at only giving us a few hundred dollars or maybe even a few thousand? If giving big business and bankers billions will save our economy, why not at least give each of us a hundred thousand or so?
