Election '08 Coverage
2008 is an election year. Here are selected resources to help you research candidates and
ballot issues:
Subscription databases
EBSCOHost - this link leads to a preselected set of newspaper and current events databases.
LexisNexis Academic Universe - search news, biographies, and transcripts from television and
radio news, talk shows and current affairs programs.
The Oregonian - search the archive of the Oregonian from today's issue back through
September 1, 1987. This link also makes available a source called "America's News Magazines"
which allows one to search back issues of a list of prominent American newsmagazines.
Government resources
The Federal Elections Commission is responsible for monitoring election campaign finances
and enforcing federal campaign financing laws.
The Oregon Secretary of State Elections Division is responsible for interpreting and applying
election laws for the state of Oregon. The Division is also responsible for creating and
distributing the Voter's Pamphlet to Oregon household each election year.
Lane County Elections counts ballots and provides other services to voters on election day.
