Walker County Participates in Groundhog
Job Shadowing Day by Anthony Hudson, District Conservationist, Jasper, AL
on, and Senator Aderholt’s office.
On January 30, Walker County held the Annual Groundhog Job
Shadowing Day. The program is designed to give all the ninth
grade students in the county a look into the world of work. The
program is a collaboration among the Chamber of Commerce
of Walker County, area businesses, the Jasper City School,
Walker County Schools, and Sumiton Christian School. Over
900 students participated in the annual Groundhog Shadow
Day. Three hundred of the 900 students spent the morning at
the CHS Activity Center attending a career fair which exposed
them to many careers. The other 600 students spent the
morning at over 100 local businesses. The students got a
chance to learn the ins and outs of the professions and to ask
questions of their mentors.
