Guitar For the General Music Classroom...
Below are some tips and lessons for incorporating guitar into the General Music Classroom for
grades 5-8
Using guitar in the General Music classroom can be quite challenging. Younger students will
have a hard time pushing the strings down if they guitar is too large for them.
Generally, we intruduce guitar to students in the 5th grade, and they experience a little guitar
each year through middle school.
Having students use tablature to play simple songs on the guitar, rather than standard
notation, enables them to play simple songs relatively quickly and easily.
