The SARE program, funded by USDA, promotes sustainable farming and ranching. This program offers
competitive grants and educational opportunities for producers, scientists, educators, institutions,
organizations, and others exploring sustainable agriculture. For information on research opportunities,
conferences, training sessions, publications, and networking opportunities contact the Regional Coordinators.
Additionally, SARE's Professional Development Program (PDP) provides sustainable agriculture education
and outreach strategies for Cooperative Extension agents, Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, and
others working directly with farmers and ranchers. Examples of selected projects from the SARE program are
highlighted here: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/nea/ag_systems/sri/sustain_ag_sri_sare.html. Area SARE
