HOUSTON--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Citing strong advertising numbers, CultureMap – Houston’s daily
digital magazine – has buttressed its sales operation with the hiring of advertising and marketing vet Marielle Johnson.
She joins Vice President of Sales Chad Miller and his team as the web-based publication continues to rapidly gain
market share and draw the eyeballs so critical to driving ad revenue. “We are beginning to see the tide turn for us
when it comes to sales,” says CultureMap president Nic Phillips. “Advertisers and organizations are seeing both the
value CultureMap brings in trumpeting the best of Houston and the value of platform we offer that allows them to
reach our growing, sophisticated audience.”
Johnson’s move to Houston to join CultureMap is a homecoming of sorts. Although born in California and raised
between Madison, Wisconsin and Austin, Texas, Johnson spent her high school years in the Bayou City. “I’d been
looking for an opportunity to move home to Houston,” she says, “but it had to be for the right project. CultureMap is
an exciting company that allows me to combine business aspirations with an interest in the arts.” The daughter of a
classically trained vocal artist, Johnson spent much of her formative years in small opera houses, developing a
passion for the arts in the process.
She graduated from University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a BBA in marketing and a BS in advertising. While at
UT, Johnson spent six months in the prestigious ESADE business exchange program in Barcelona, Spain focusing on
marketing, retail management, and international business. Although committed to a rigorous curriculum, she stayed
true to her roots, finishing her university career with fine arts electives in both acting and piano.
