Why I Want To Be a Teacher – Full Admission Essay
The word teacher for most people is defined as someone who
is responsible for informing or teaching someone something. But not
everyone would have the same image of a teacher. I personally have an
image of a teacher as being someone who is kind, loving, gentle, patient,
and understanding. When I think of the word teacher, I get the visual
image of a person standing by a desk helping a child with their school
work. My own thoughts of what I believe a teacher should be, along
with my life experiences and goals all contribute to why I want to be a
teacher.
My thoughts of what a teacher should be formed from my own
life experiences. Just like most people my first teacher or teachers
where my parents. As a child grows up, they learn many things and for
most of us, we do not remember learning some of the things that we
know how to do, for example walking, talking and loving.
However, there are some things that my parents taught me that I
distinctly remember. I can also say that my parents have different
methods of teaching. My mother is very loving and patient, my father
on the other hand could be understanding and strict.
My first visual of an actual “teacher” was at school. For me
my elementary years run together, but I definitely remember my
teachers. In kindergarten, I had Mrs. Bolen for my teacher. I can
remember her being very kind and gentle.
First grade for me was a different world. I actually was scared
of being at school. I was in a new place, I did not know anyone and to
top it off I missed many days of school because of being sick that lead
to having my tonsils out. My teacher, Mrs. Goodone made first grade
special. I am not sure of all the details of how it all got worked out, but
Mrs. Goodone started keeping me after school and working on reading
with me. At the time I thought it was so wonderful to stay after school
