Nature of the hazard
There is a possibility of explosion if you pump gases containing oxygen at a
concentration greater than 4% above the proportion contained in air.
Toxicity following single exposure to high levels (by ingestion, skin or eye contact or
inhalation) is of a low order. Prolonged and repeated contact with oil products can be
detrimental to health : refer to Section 11 of this data sheet.
Precaution to be taken
Do not use mineral oil in conditions where the oil mist and an oxygen enriched
atmosphere are in contact with an ignition source (such as hot surface). Use an
alternative pump fluid, such as PFPE, under these conditions.
Follow the advice given in Sections 4, 7 and 8 of this data sheet.
