Clive Davis and Other Music Industry Visionaries
Toast Fred Davis and Daniel Glass at
Music for Youth Foundation/UJA-Federation of New York Event
(NEW YORK, NY July 17, 2002) — Some of the music industry’s biggest executives toasted
Fred Davis, the founding partner of Davis, Shapiro & Lewit, LLP; and Daniel Glass, president
of Artemis Records, at UJA-Federation’s annual Music Visionary of the Year Award Luncheon
held at the Pierre Hotel June 19th. Ed Lover and Doctor Dre, Power 105.1 morning show
personalities, were the event’s emcees. Clive Davis, chairman and CEO of J Records, made a
special toast. And Wyclef Jean presented a $25,000 to 18 year-old soprano Briana Shaw Rossi,
one of this year’s winners of the Music for Youth Foundation’s cash awards recognizing musical
excellence.
Music leaders in the mix at this year’s event included luncheon chairs Polly Anthony, Jerry
Blair, Charles Goldstuck, Craig Kallman, Marci Klein, Jeff Kwatinetz, Peter Lewit,
Kedar Massenburg, David Munns, Guy Oseary, L. A. Reid, Sylvia Rhone, Andy Slater,
Mitch Slater, Steve Stoute, John Sykes, Van Toffler, Greg Thompson, Charlie Walk,
Barry Weiss, and Tom Whalley; tribute journal chairs Will Botwin, Lyor Cohen, and Monte
Lipman; auction chair Ken Lane; east coast chairs Charlie Feldman, Jason Flom, and Evan
Lamberg; and event hosts Danny Goldberg and Steve Shapiro.

received the Music Group’s Spirit of Music Award in 2000. “They have played vital roles in
reshaping the music industry, and these awards reflect our great appreciation for their work and
dedication.”

added Charles Goldstuck, president of J Records. “Their commitment to helping the community
sets an
