Ben Griswold IV To Join Brown Advisory
Baltimore, MD (April 12, 2005) – Veteran investment banking executive Benjamin H.
Griswold, IV, will join Brown Advisory, an independent Baltimore-based investment
firm, as a partner and Chairman of the Boards of the two principal operating businesses
of Brown Advisory, Brown Investment Advisory & Trust Company and Brown Advisory
Securities, the Firm announced today.
Griswold, 64, enjoyed a long and successful career at Alex. Brown & Sons and its
successor firms, Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank, before retiring earlier this year as
Senior Chairman of Deutsche Bank Securities. This appointment brings Griswold full
circle, as Brown Advisory was founded by Alex. Brown in 1993 during Griswold’s
tenure there as Chairman. Brown Advisory became an independent firm in 1998.
"This is a very special addition to our firm," Brown Advisory's President and Chief
Executive Officer, Michael D. Hankin emphasized in his announcement today.
"Throughout its long history, Alex. Brown represented a strong tradition of integrity,
sound investment and strategic advice to its clients, and--as a result--dynamic growth as a
business. And, Ben personifies Alex. Brown. Given our similar roots, it is no accident
that he shares the values and standards that Brown Advisory now carries forward."
Griswold added, “Brown Advisory continues to do wonderful work for clients by
combining strong investment results with sound strategic advice on a wide range of
wealth-related issues. The result has been solid growth in client assets and Firm
shareholders equity, all within the framework of cordiality and integrity. I look forward
to joining the Brown Advisory team to play a part in the continued growth of the Firm
and to bring 38 years
