To be a part of the neuroscientific sphere wherein I could contribute to the cutting edge research on
the brain imaging and electrophysiology techniques where the aim is to make diagnosis and therapy
more reachable to the masses. Equipped with my skills and interest, I intend to pursue research and
studies on NMR imaging, analyses and neuro-psychology which would help bring to light the underlying
causes of cognitive/perceptual/stress disorders and also degenerative diseases of the brain. Also, I
would like to pursue study of alternate approaches to treat psychological syndromes with Mindfulness
Neuro Imaging and analysis
Neuroscience of Mindfulness and meditation
September 2009 (ongoing)
Nature of Work: Psychophysiological data collection and analyses at the Lustyk Womens‟ Health
Lab (Seattle Pacific University)studying effects of Mindfulness and Meditation in women with
PMS/PMDD. The project would be expanded to study brain changes (through fMRI) after
mindfulness meditation done by women with PMS, alcoholics and people with Substance Use
November 2008-October 2009
Role: Research Volunteer
Tools used: FSL, Freesurfer, BrainVoyager
Nature of Work: This project in Dept. of Psychology,UW (Vision and Cognition Lab) led by Prof.
Ione Fine involves brain imaging study of visually deprived individuals and quantifying cross
modal plasticity of tactile and auditory stimuli within the visual cortex in the early blind subjects.
Data collected on blind and sighted subjects are processed using the above mentioned tools for
various purposes including cortical reconstruction and ROI analyses.
