FADE IN
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT
Rain beats against a windshield. Wipers swing back and forth,
useless under the relentless downpour.
A lone car travels down an immense six-lane highway. Endless
headlights stream by - out of focus - blinding.
At the wheel, a WOMAN stares ahead. She's going somewhere -
anywhere. Maybe away from something or towards something.
We're not sure…
EXT. COUNTRY ROAD - NIGHT
CLOSE on the woman's eyes. She blinks.
The rain runs across her windshield blurring the night
outside, distorting reality. Hard to see out here in the
murky blackness of a moonless night.
A driveway appears up ahead.
The woman wipes a tear. She opens her eyes wide - shakes her
head - tries to stay focused.
EXT. DRIVEWAY - NIGHT
The gravel road is rough. The darkness here is even more
ominous - foreboding. The branches from the dense woods and
overgrown scrub on either side reach out ready to rip her
screaming from her safe cocoon.
She steers carefully, keeping well away from them.
EXT. SUMMER COTTAGE - NIGHT
A house appears around a bend. A light is on in the living
room. The car comes to a stop.
The woman stares.
She reaches out to the passenger seat…
In her hand is a photo of a man and two beautiful young
children. She touches the picture, caresses the image of the
children.
Her hand reaches out again... this time into her purse.
The GLINT of polished steel.
2.
She holds a semi-automatic handgun.
A fleeting glance up to the house.
The woman takes a deep breath, a breath meant to calm her
tortured soul.
The car door swings open. Her high-heeled feet touch the
ground - hesitate.
The woman walks towards the house.
