Norman L . Rigdon V.F.W. Post 5896
In the last newsletter I wrote on the subject of Senate Bill S.2743 and House Bill H.R. 4051 to authorize
a Cold War Service Medal to eligible veterans. I have been in contact with Congresswoman Jo Ann
Emerson’s office and I’m pleased to report Congresswoman Emerson is now co-sponsoring Bill H.4051
along with 27 other U.S. Representatives. I have not yet received a response from U.S. Senator Bond or
McCaskill’s office on the subject of Senate Bill S.2743 and the congressional records confirm they are not
listed as co-sponsoring this Bill. Please contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to co-sponsor Senate Bill
S.2743. Contact numbers: (Bond 1-202-224-5721) (McCaskill 1-202-224-6154) We need as many
co-sponsors as possible to make this Bill a reality!

I take this opportunity to express to the members of Farmington V.F.W. Post 5896 on what an honor and
privilege it has been to be the Commander of this Post for two consecutive terms. We have had a couple of
bumps in the road along the way but it has been truly a wonderful experience being the Commander of a
