Collectible comics: depends on the person
For each person what are collectible comics is dependent on what their priorities are. There are general rules that most people go by but there are
The reason I am saying this I know a man that will not have anything to do any of the most popular comic heroes. Most of us think that Superman and
Batman are great. But some have another opinion. But to each their own. On the most part, the older, rarer a comic is the more value it has. Its
condition is also a major contributor to its value.
Some things become collectables just because they are favored by an individual. Almost anything, including a comic book can be a collectable. If you
purchase one new and keep it sealed in its original packaging it will have an increased value in time. If you just have to read it, like I do, then buy
another one. This will keep the one you purchased for reasons of being a collectable in mint condition. I have seen them, 20 year old comics that have
never been read. Not all of them attain a high value but they are worth more than when they were purchased.
For those of you out there that just want to know what the value of your old collectible comics are there are many resources to choose from. The most
popular is the "Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide". This has been published for over 35 years and has undergone many edition updates. The
current 39th edition is in paperback and also available on a CD.
