In order to apply to the School of Journalism & Mass
Communication you must have completed or have in
progress 30 semester hours of appropriate college-level
work. Students who intend to apply to the school
complete their freshman year of undergraduate work
(a minimum of 30 semester hours), typically in the College
of Arts and Sciences as prejournalism/mass communication
A small number of highly qualified applicants to the University of Colorado at Boulder will be
admitted directly to the School of Journalism & Mass Communication.
