ARCHITECTS' AND ENGINEERS'
The specialty relay assembly shall be Alpha Communi-
cations® PK427A or equivalent. Relay shall operate
from a 16VAC primary voltage source, and shall pro-
vide two (2) independent 'Form C' dry contact relay
outputs, as long as the 16VAC source is present. All
wiring to relay shall be low-voltage Class II wiring,
installed as per all federal, state, and local electrical
codes. Relay shall surface mount right to the finished
wall and shall be installed in a suitable environment that
is free from excessive dirt, dust, temperature, humid-
ity, grease and water.
Contractor shall observe all local and national electri-
cal and building codes.

The Alpha Communications® PK427A specialty re-
lays are used for a variety of reasons. The PK427A can
be connected to a standard 16VAC electric door
opener output from many intercom amplifiers to allow
connection to a magnetic or different type or voltage
door opener. It can also be used to provide two (2)
independent 'Form C' relay contacts from virtually any
16VAC input source. The PK427A can even be pow-
ered directly from a 16VAC transformer.
As long as a 16VAC source is present, the PK427A will
engage, providing two (2) normally-open and two (2)
normally-closed sets of contacts, each with a shared
'common' screw terminal.
The PK427A relays are designed to easily surface
mount right onto the finished wall by means of self-stick
mounting tabs or by using the mounting holes provided
for screw mounting.
Connections are positive screw terminal type, using
barrier type terminal connector strips.
