• UFORE analysis and benefits study
• Dr. Francisco Escobedo, University of Florida, will present
his latest research addressing Escambia County’s urban
forest value including current canopy structure, air
pollution and particulate matter removal, temperature
reduction, most common trees, and average diameter
class of County’s urban trees. Escambia County’s urban
forest will be compared to other Florida Urban Forestry
Communities. There will be a panel discussion with
audience questions at the end of the forum.
• Bonnie Stine, Urban Forestry Coordinator Florida Division
of Forestry, will introduce the objectives of the Florida
Urban Forestry Program and present the Florida Urban
Forestry Council “Outstanding Professional 2009 Award.”
• Beau Brodbeck, Alabama’s Extension Urban Forest
Specialist, will highlight the importance of urban forestry,
urban and community landscape planning, “Right Tree
Right Place”, and proper measures to save trees during
construction.
• The Escambia County Water Quality and Land
Management Division partnered with University of
Florida on this Urban Forest Research Project. The Urban
and Community Forest Grant for the UFORE analysis and
benefit study was awarded to the University of Florida
with funding by USDA Forest Service and administered by
the Florida Division of Forestry.
