Approved For Water & Waste Funds
Morgantown, WV – July 17, 2008: State Director Rick E. Rice announces
that Rural Development approved a Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan in the
amount of $250,000 for Eastern Wyoming Public Service District, Logan County, WV.
Rural Development funds will be used to purchase the assets of the Alpoca Water Works,
Inc., which is a privately-owned water system serving approximately 190 customers in
the communities of Bud and Alpoca in Wyoming County, WV. This project includes the
purchase of materials necessary to install meters for each customer.
“This acquisition is necessary in order to proceed with the District’s proposed Phase IV
project,” explained Rice.
Rural Development serves as the lead Federal entity for rural development needs and
administers program assistance through its housing, business/cooperative, community
and infrastructure programs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) prohibits
