Thierry Sheridan Elected AHIMA President

CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Care Communications, Inc., a national health information
management (HIM) consulting and staffing firm, today announced Patty Thierry Sheridan, MBA, RHIA, President,
has been elected President-elect of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Sheridan
will serve a three-year term, consisting of President-elect in 2011, President in 2012 and Past-president in 2013.
Elections took place June 7-25, 2010.
“Performing volunteer work for AHIMA is a value I hold deeply. Serving as the AHIMA President will be a
professionally rewarding experience, a chance to give back to the profession that has given so much to me and an
opportunity to utilize my training, experience and background in a way that helps to advance the HIM profession,”
said Sheridan. “I have spent more than the last decade of my career honing my HIM, business, leadership and
change management skills. I am ready to step into these progressively more challenging volunteer leadership roles for
the leading organization for HIM professionals.”
Sheridan assumes her role at a challenging time for the health care industry and a particularly opportune time for
HIM professionals. Hospitals and health networks continue to navigate the new reality of electronic information
management of health records, and specialized HIM professionals are uniquely suited to help.
Sheridan brings health information management and change leadership expertise to her new role at the AHIMA. She
served Care Communications in several capacities including as vice president of operations and chief information
officer before becoming president in 2004. Sheridan’s past tenure at the AHIMA includes a volunteer term on the
organization’s board of directors (2007-2009) and past experience serving as chief operating officer in 1993, acting
