Two types of problems: time constrained
project and resource constrained project
A time constrained project is one that must
be completed by an imposed date .
Resource usage should be no more than is
necessary and sufficient.
A resource constrained project is one that
assumes the level of resource available
cant be exceeded. If the resources are
inadequate, it will be acceptable to delay

Assumptions:
› Splitting activities will not be allowed.
› The level of resource used for an activity
cant be changed
› These assumptions do not exist in
practice, just to learn.

It focuses on resource utilization by using
resource leveling techniques which
balance or smooth demand for a
resource.
Leveling techniques delay noncritical
activities by using positive slack to
reduce peak demand and fill in the
valleys for the resources.
Example of Botanical Garden project
that uses only one resource (Backhoes).
All backhoes are interchangeable.
