Why Evan Lysacek, The Olympic Gold Medalist, Will Be A Top Contender on Dancing
With The Stars
She Does Ballroom loves Dancing With the Stars! Monday March
22nd is the big day for the next 11 cast members for the 10th season
of Dancing With the Stars. One of the countryʼs most recent and
biggest stars to be on the show: Evan Lysacek, 2010 Gold Medal
Winner in Menʼs Figure Skating. But will his cool moves on the ice
turn into another hot win on the dance floor? We think so and hereʼs
why-
Figure Skating and Dancing- How Similar They Are:
Itʼs amazing the similarities between these two sports- they both have the same
foundation. Believe it or not, both Ballroom dance and figure skating start with good old
fashioned traditional Ballet. Ballet is great for any athlete because it helps you with
posture, balance, strength, and most importantly grace, poise, and confidence. Many
figure skaters and ballroom dancers are often trained in ballet and use it in their weekly
workout routine.
Choreography is also important both on and off the ice. Both dancers and figure skaters
have one purpose: To put movement to music- I mean, thatʼs whatʼs all about right?
Now what music you choose and how you choose to move to that music can make or
break you- but the idea is the same.
What Challenges will Evan Have To Face?
Partnering! This Gold Medal Olympian is probably used to working solo, so a partner
might throw him for a loop a little bit. When you are so used to practicing and competing
by yourself, you have to almost re-train yourself to start thinking moving with another
person. But we think he will do it- we believe in you Evan!!
I guess we will just have to wait to see how he will compare to the competition on March
22nd. Stay tuned to www.SheDoesBallroom.com for all the latest tips, tricks and gossip
in the Ballroom world. Until then happy dancing!
