Programme and Budgetary Transfers in the 2008-09 Biennium

The Committee is requested to take note of forecasted biennial performance
against the net Regular Programme appropriation of USD 929.8 million approved by the
Conference. Full expenditure of the 2008-09 net appropriation in Chapters 1 through 6 is
foreseen. In line with the current practice, any unspent balances in the Technical
Cooperation Programme, Capital Expenditure (Chapter 8) and Security Expenditure
(Chapter 9) will be transferred to the forthcoming biennium.
The Committee is requested to approve the final chapter distribution of the
savings and efficiency gains of USD 22.1 million in the PWB 2008-09 leading to the
2008-09 budgetary appropriation of USD 929.8 million as presented in Table 1.
Furthermore, based on forecasted performance against the 2008-09 net
appropriation and in accordance with Financial Regulation 4.5(b), the Committee is
requested to authorize transfers from budgetary Chapters 3, 4 and 6 in favor of Chapters
1 (USD 0.9 million), 2 (USD 0.6 million), and 5 (USD 1.0 million).
GUIDANCE SOUGHT FROM THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Committee is requested to approve the chapter distribution of the 2008-09 Net
Appropriation of USD 929.8 million based on the revised distributions of savings and
efficiency gains of USD 22.1 million.
