Cawaco Receives Grant to Re-establish
Historic Tree Boulevards in Norwood Community

The Norwood neighborhood of Birmingham,
AL, is recovering from years of decline and
neglect. With funds from the McWane Cast
Iron Pipe Company and the Urban and
Community Tree Assistance, the community
is restoring treed boulevards to this historic
community.
Norwood is but one of 99 neighborhood
associations that comprise the communities of
the City of Birmingham. The neighborhood is
adjacent to many of Birmingham’s traditional
heavy industries. The neighborhood has some
significant design components with one of the
longest treed boulevards in the metro area.
