Earthquake Preparedness Program
Children’s Earthquake Kits
September 12, 2008
Dear: Parents
It is time to restock or purchase your child’s Earthquake kit for the current school year or
if you are new to the school to begin in our program. Children who had sent a
Earthquake kit last year, we are sending them home for restocking. Please do not remove
the old label, which helps us identify the children during the check off process. We will
label the Earthquake kits with the updated information during the check off process. For
those who are new students or did not participate last year we encourage you to start.
Before considering restocking your child’s Earthquake kit, we offer the option to an
alternative in investing in your child’s safety that is cost effective, easier, has a shelf life
of 5 years and more appropriate. We have arranged the purchase of Earthquake kits for
$21.00 from a local company, F.A.S.T., located in Delta that manufactures all aspects of
Emergency Preparedness equipment. For this option, fill in the order form and attached a
cheque payable to Panorama Park PAC and send it to school with your child. Or come
by the school office and see a sample of the emergency kit and pay while you are there.
If you do not purchase a Earthquake Kit, then for restocking, please keep non-perishable
items in the Ziploc Bag and replace food items with fresh supplies per the suggested list
below. You may wish to update or include a comfort letter to your child and a family
photo. Further, any batteries should also be refreshed. If you are providing needed
medication for your child ensure the expiry date is current and provide complete
instructions for administration and/or procedures in an event of an allergic response or
otherwise.
