“Make Dreams Real” – for all the world’s children!
D K Lee - RI President
This month’s newsletter includes the provisional programme for our annual Conference. If you have
not yet registered, please do so as soon as possible to help the organizing committee make all the
necessary arrangements for catering etc. We look forward to seeing you all in Oudtshoorn in May!
Two weekends ago, Ina and I attended the GCOSEA (Governor’s Council of Southern and East Africa)
meeting in Johannesburg. We had a most stimulating and informative meeting with input from all the
different Districts. We were also lucky to be able to hear the plans of the Rotary International
President Nominee, Ray Klingensmit, who spoke to us about new initiative and changes in Rotary
International. The Future of Rotary is certainly in good hands!
REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE FOR THE FLOODING IN NAMIBIA – PDG
I am not sure whether district is aware of the national disaster in Namibia. RI picked up the story in the
USA and contacted us and Shelterbox are flying in on Monday and bringing in R6 million worth of
shelter boxes. I have been leading the Rotary effort to help but would appreciate our district showing
willingness to help. The publicity for Rotary is at present a growing groundswell. I have been talking
to the Prime Minister and he will become involved.
These floods are very serious and the UN has started a fund to raise $27 million in help which will give
you some idea of the extent of the trouble. More than a thousand people have drowned so far and it just
Grateful if you could provide some assistance.
Should clubs be able to help PDG Ken in any way, he can be contacted at
