It seems like summer just got started and already
it is half over. July has brought the warm
weather and with it lots of activity around the club
– wonderful to see!
I would like to congratulate BCC Member Steve
Coppola on his selection to represent the United
States in rowing at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Steve is the son of Doug and Mimi Coppola.
Before he started rowing, Steve got his start on
the water as a participant in BCC junior sailing.
On behalf of the BCC, I would like to wish Steve
and his teammates the best of luck.
Steve is the third BCC member to make it to the
Olympic Games. Past BCC Olympians include
PC Tom Allen and current BCC Treasurer Jack
Mathias, both in sailing. In honor of Steve Coppola
and all of the Canadian and U.S. athletes, we will
be flying the Olympic flag during the games.
Ontario Sailing executive director Glenn Lethbridge
came to the BCC July 1st and presented us with
a Regional Training Center plaque. We are very
excited to be part of this program to promote
sailing in Ontario.
Many thanks to Pat Porter and her committee
for the table decorations in the dining room. With
