BiotechCorp Unveiled Bio-XCell in BIO Chicago

CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp), the lead
development agency for the biotechnology industry in Malaysia, continues to raise its international profile at the BIO
International Convention – BIO Chicago 2010. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, the convention
is being held May 3-6, 2010 at McCormick place in Chicago, Illinois. The global event for biotechnology provides a
strong pipeline of investment into Malaysia.
“We have aggressive goals for this year’s event. Our long-term goal is to utilize this industry to speed Malaysia’s
economic development, boost wealth creation and offer the benefits of biotechnology to our society,” said Dato’
Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer of BiotechCorp.
The highlight would be the Global Launch of Bio-XCell, a conducive biotechnology ecosystem and park built around
targeted strategic anchor tenants to accelerate the industry's growth through industrial and healthcare biotechnology.
Dato’ Iskandar added, “You can expect to see the scale model of the project, which will be based in Nusajaya,
Iskandar Malaysia, just a 15 minute drive to Singapore.”
Several significant milestones will be announced by BiotechCorp throughout BIO Chicago 2010. The inaugural
release of Malaysian Biotechnology Country Report 2009/2010 was held during the launch of Beyond Borders:
Ernst & Young Global Biotechnology Report 2010 on May 4, 2010. The objective of the Country Report is to
provide an overview of the biotechnology industry development in Malaysia since 2005 and set priority actions
moving forward into Phase ll of the National Biotechnology Policy (NBP) implementation.
BiotechCorp is also organizing a Business Roundtable - "Accelerating Commercialization in Biotechnology.”
