GIFT GUIDE 2005
E
very Fall our staff and interns hit the
streets searching for the hottest, funkiest
holiday gifts. This year the Eugene
Weekly staff decided to focus on local
businesses and handmade, hand-crafted
goods. We visited many of Eugene’s unique and interesting
shops, collecting hundreds of presents for all ages and
budgets. We’ve even included stuff under $5 that you can
use as stocking stuffers.
The 2005 Gift Guide also has something new: We’ve
profiled various artists and artisans and given you the history
behind a few local shops and businesses. Learn all about
teen entrepreneur Bim Ditson in the section on jewelry. Did
you know that Café Mam is actually named after the Mayan
folk who farm the coffee beans? Check out that story in the
section on Tasty Treats. Ever wonder where the inspiration for
the Museum of Unfine Art came from? It’s all here in the
Eugene Weekly’s 2005 Gift Guide.
Special thanks to our devoted and hard-working interns
Dave Constantin, Danny Cross, Tim O’Rourke and freelancer
Vanessa Salvia who collected most of this stuff. Also thanks to
sales, production and circulation. — Melissa Bearns, editor.
