As one of our clients, you should not be pressured by annoying and abusive collectors’ calls. However,
in order for us to stop these calls, we will need you to try to obtain certain information from the caller so
that we can mail them a warning letter stating that to call you is a violation of federal and state laws.
If you receive a call from one of your creditors, try to obtain the name of the person calling you, the
company that they are with and a fax number where they can be reached. If you can obtain this informa-
tion, we will fax the caller a warning letter that should result in the creditor never calling you again.
If you cannot obtain a fax number from the caller, try to obtain either the phone number so we can call
and obtain a fax number or the address to which we can forward our warning letter.
TELL THE CALLER THAT YOUR LAWYER WANTS TO SEND THEM A LETTER AND THEREFORE
YOU NEED AN ADDRESS OR FAX NUMBER TO SEND THE LETTER. MAKE SURE THAT YOU FIND
OUT WHO THE CALLER REPRESENTS (i.e. THE CREDITOR, A COLLECTION AGENCY, AN
ATTORNEY’S OFFICE).
After you have obtained the above information, call AAUD at 800-992-3275 and tell any of the counselors
who answer the phone that you have been called by a creditor/collector/lawyer and furnish the counselor
with the following information:
-Name of the caller;
-Name of the company the caller represents; and
-Fax number, telephone number or address of the caller.
Creditor Call Log:
When you signed up with AAUD we also sent you a Creditor Call Log to record creditor calls. Continue to
do so and send it over to AAUD when you have recorded a few of them. Please remember the creditor
call log will be of no use to us unless a telephone number or a fax number is included, so please make
sure you collect this information.
With your cooperation, we should be able to stop these annoying calls and leave you in peace.
