Welcome Address
Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure to launch and invite you to the 1st EFORT-EPOS Instruc-
tional Course (IC) in children’s orthopaedics, Traumatology. The IC is
aimed at general orthopaedic surgeons, particularly young ones, who
want to improve their knowledge of children’s orthopaedics. The IC sylla-
bus should contribute to knowledge-sharing and a further understand-
ing of children’s orthopaedics, traumatology.
One of the major shared goals of EFORT and EPOS is training. EPOS is
setting up a Educational Programme BAT to fulfil this goal. It is our
intention to launch courses in classic children’s orthopaedics in which
basic and advanced competences will be taught. One of the main means
through which this goal can be reached is Instructional Courses. The
venue for the Educational Programme BAT will be in central Europe in
order to ensure easy access for participants from all over the continent.
This course marks the start of a fruitful partnership between EFORT and
EPOS. Furthermore, the industry is an important partner in this pro-
gramme. Innovation in hardware and treatment procedures for children
often has its basis in clinical work. That is why we need close collabora-
tion with the industry in this field.
We invite all orthopaedic trainees and specialists to come to Vienna in
October 2009 and join us at the Orthopädisches Spital Speising at the
heart of Europe. We will do our utmost to meet and exceed your expec-
tations.
