I sobbed into my knees, why was this happening to me. I heard the front door open downstairs; I
quickly wiped the tears away from my eyes, “Bells?” Charlie called I got up and looked in the
mirror. My usually pale face was bright red and my eyes looked sore and puffy. I flushed the
toilet, I had just been sick, for the 5th day running. I splashed my face with water and sighed.
What was the point I still wasn’t going to look any different. “Hey Dad,” I called from the top of the
stairs.
“How are you?” He asked clearly concerned,
“Fine,” I attempted to sound cheerful but failed miserably, I walked down the stairs and sat on the
sofa. He sat down next to me,
“Come on Bells, its been nearly a week since-“ I winced, “Sorry,” He murmured, “I know you don’t
want to but you have to go back to school, you are going back tomorrow,” My head snapped up,
“I’m sorry but you need to get back into a routine, so you can forget about everything.” Forget?
How could I forget now? A clean break would be best, that’s what he said. How can I forget now,
I’ll never have this reminder every single day for the rest of my life. I can’t tell anyone, nobody
here knows anything, apart from… I couldn’t go to them. Could I?
“Dad?” I ask, his head snapped up,
“Yes?” He asked eagerly,
“Can I have the address for Billy? It would be nice to see Jake again.” I improvised,
“Sure, I haven’t seen Billy in a while, I’ll come with you,”
“No…no, it’s fine I can go by myself, besides you saw him the other day when I… got lost in the
woods” It was painful to even think about it. Please don’t come, please don’t come,
“Bella, you are in no state to go anywhere by yourself, I’m coming with you,” He ended the
conversation there and then.
The drive over was a long, quiet one, neither of us had ever been ones to talk much. “Charlie,
Bella, what brings you here?”
Charlie grinned, “Bella wanted to see Jake again,”
“Yeah, I umm, wanted to see Jake,” I lied. I could tell he saw through me, anybody could see
though my lies.
I slammed the car door shut,
