Modern Israeli art is a term used to describe art made by Israeli artists that are influenced by modernism. It can be seen as a way for Jewish artists to remain autonomous of the influences of other cultures in a post-modernist world. In order to understand how this genre of art developed, it's important to know how it came into existence. Modern Israeli art originates from two different circumstances: the first was during the 1940s and 1950s when immigrants from all over Europe and Russia moved to Israel. They brought with them their own artistic style that was then incorporated into the mainstream culture of Israel.
