QUEENSLAND STATE GENERAL ELECTION - 09 SEPTEMBER 2006
A Queensland State General Election was held on Saturday 09 September 2006.
An “Apparent Failure to Vote” Notice was issued to you by the Electoral Commission, pursuant to Section 125(1) of
the Electoral Act 1992, on 30 March 2007 but to date an acceptable response has not been received.
It is an offence under Section 164(1)(a) of the Act for an elector to fail to vote at an election without a valid and
sufficient excuse. The fine for this offence is $75.00.
It is alleged that in respect of the General Election you, being an elector within the meaning of the Electoral Act
1992, did fail, without a valid and sufficient excuse, to vote at a polling booth within the Electoral District of
or such other place at which you could have voted in accordance with the Electoral Act 1992, between
Tuesday 15 August 2006 and 6.00 p.m. on Saturday 09 September 2006.
You are advised to pay the fine of $75.00 to this Commission by Monday 04 June 2007. Please complete
Part A overleaf and return the entire Infringement Notice with your payment. If, however, you did not receive
the “Apparent Failure to Vote” Notice dated 30 March 2007 and you did vote or you did not vote but you believe that
your reason for failing to vote should be accepted as valid and sufficient, please complete Part B overleaf and return
the entire Infringement Notice. Alternatively, you may choose to give this Commission a written election to have the
matter of the offence decided in a Magistrates Court, which will result in your being summonsed to appear. If you
