Executive Summary
.
The Black Parallel School Board (BPSB) is a community organization developed to work parallel with the
Sacramento City Unified School District. Its major responsibility is to support the educational growth
and achievement of African Descended students. In order to do that BPSB will monitor all educational
activities and programs of the school district to assure that they are compatible with the needs of
African Descended students.
The primary goal of the BPSB has several components: 1) to monitor the Sacramento City Unified
School District to consistently address specific identifiable and measurable teaching and learning
practices; 2) to monitor the racial achievement gap associated with differences in G.P.A., API,
graduation and retention rates, disciplinary actions, expulsions, inequality in educational services and
exit test scores between African Descended students and other populations, throughout the coming
2009-10 academic year.
