Caseine, Caseinate or Milk-Protein for Human Consumption Derived from
Milk Products Imported from FMD Infected Countries
• This certificate should only be used for the export of Caseine, Caseinate or Milk
Protein intended for human consumption derived exclusively from milk products
imported from an FMD infected country.
• APHIS VS inspection of the manufacturing facility to verify the processing
method is necessary for endorsement. (Note: If a government issued health
certificate from the country of origin certifies the imported milk product was
subjected to one of the processing parameters, no inspection of the manufacturing
plant is necessary. However, as always, the endorsing VS Area Office has the
authority to require an inspection of the facility prior to endorsing certificate.)
• Caseine, Caseinate and milk-based products exported to the Republic of South
Africa for human consumption must be on the same letterhead. The certificate
provided on this web site entitled “VETERINARY HEALTH CERTIFICATE
FOR THE EXPORT OF CASEINE, CASEINATE OR MILK PROTEIN FOR
HUMAN CONSUMPTION DERIVED FROM MILK PRODUCTS IMPORTED
FROM FMD INFECTED COUNTRIES FOR EXPORT TO THE REPUBLIC OF
SOUTH AFRICA”, which is on USDA APHIS/VS-NCIE letterhead, is the only
one that should be used.
• Exporters must provided copies of the government issued health certificate from
the country of origin for the imported mil product utilized in the manufacture of
the product being exported.
• Exporters must provide supporting documentation from a competent public health
authority before APHIS VS can endorse this required certification statement:
“The products are fit for human consumption.” The supporting documentation,
which must state that the products are “fit for human consumption,” may be
obtained from a number of different Federal or State regulatory agencies
including the AMS, the FDA, State Departments of Health or State Dairy Boards.
