Application of Lorentz Transformations in defining
particulate behaviour of tropical geomaterials under
Kensetsu Kaihatsu Limited

ABSTRACT: Lorentz Transformations are applied in relating the space and
time coordinates of a system of geomaterial particles subjected to dynamic
loading conditions. Observations are made in respect to inertial frames in
relative motion and the resulting particle motion is analysed on the basis of
the concept of relativistic consequences.
The derivation of the Lorentz Transformation equations is based on the
fundamental postulates of the theory of relativity and the assumption that
space and time are homogenous. These theories and concepts are then
applied in analysing particulate behaviour in relation to deformation rate and
characteristics of geomaterials under varying dynamic loading conditions.
Some new generalised equations correlating particle motion and deforma-
tion are proposed.
