But this I call to mind!
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end; they are new
every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
For all who care about the faith of our children, Lamentations
3:21-23 is full of hope and encouragement. Consider that the
steadfast love of the Lord for our children far-surpasses our own.
There are never-ending mercies available for us to accomplish
an otherwise impossible task, and the Lord’s faithfulness to His
promises and purpose are infinitely great.
For me, this text also fuels my vision for the next generation.
Consider that just four verses before this the writer says: “my
soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is; so I
say, “My endurance has perished; so has my hope from the
Lord” (3:17-18). How does a man in four verses move so quickly
from such deep discouragement to such glorious words of hope?
His despair gave way to hope when he called to mind previously
embraced truth about God’s love, mercies, and faithfulness.
In presenting the 2007 CDG catalog, I want to assure you that
our aim and earnest desire is to provide resources that will help
establish your children in the truth–so that when they “call”
there will be something in their mind that will strengthen faith,
revive hope, and glorify Christ. These materials are designed to
engage both the mind and the heart in learning, in the hope that
the Lord establish their faith and ignite their affections for Him
and His glory.
Another expression of our “aim and earnest desire” is the 2007
Children Desiring God Conference, which is featured on the back
cover of this catalog. We recognize that our resources have little
value apart from the saving work of God in the lives of our chil-
dren. In this conference we want to consider this salvation,
understand it biblically, and learn to effectively seek this salva-
tion for our children. If
