Battle Of The Books:
Just a reminder Battle of the Books is coming soon. Keep up all the
great reading. Wednesday, March 25th 11:15-1:00 at Alden
Thursday, March 26th 6:30pm-8:00 Grand Battle in the PAC
Students in all three grades at Alden School will be taking MCAS
examinations during two testing windows. The first window lasts
from March 30th through April 14th; the second, from May 11th
through 28th. Dates when each grade will be testing are as follows:
- Reading – March 30th; April 1st and 2nd;
- Math – May 11th and 12th.
- Composition – March 31st;
- English/Language Arts – April 8th, 9th, and 13th;
- Math – May 15th and 18th.
- English/Language Arts – April 3rd, 6th, and 7th;
- Math – May 13th and 14th;
- Science – May 19th and 20th;
- Social Studies – May 21st and 22nd.
Last week the DESE announced that it is
suspending testing in History and Social Science.
These windows are narrow, and we need to ensure that all of our
students are tested during them. We ask families not to take students
from school – for travel or for appointments – on days when they are
scheduled to take MCAS examinations.
SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT UPDATE

public information session on the articles that will
be presented at Town Meeting. --- Article 36 asks voters to
approve funding for a feasibility study for renovating/building
of the middle and high school buildings. This update will
explain the importance of a feasibility study, the process for
planning and an overview of the new Massachusetts School
Building Authority process for approval and reimbursement.
