PURPOSE: To identify the environmental aspects and impacts of LCSWMA’s activities and services
in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001, 4.3.1.
SCOPE:
This procedure applies to the environmental aspects and impacts associated with all
LCSWMA facilities.

DEFINITIONS:
Environmental aspect – element of an organization’s activities, products or services, which can
interact with the environment.
Significant environmental aspect – an environmental aspect, which has or can have a significant
environmental impact.
Environmental impact – any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or
partly resulting from an organization’s activities, products or services.
1. Procedure
1.1
The Senior Manager, Technical Services and/or Environmental Compliance Manager
(Technical Services Department) with the assistance of Senior Management, identifies
environmental aspects. Aspects are initially identified through a comprehensive
evaluation of all environmental interactions, considering normal and abnormal operating
conditions and emergency situations. Environmental aspects are also identified through
the internal EMS audit process, which takes place twice a year (ENV-13).
