Consider The Britax Duo Plus Car Seat
And It’s Safety
The major considerations when buying a child’s car seat are likely to be safety, comfort,
compatibility, ease of use and of course cost. One other thing that may influence your decision is
recommendations from professional bodies that have tested the seats and have given their stamp of
approval. Such awards have already been given to the Britax Duo Plus Isofix car seat, so why has this
range become so popular?
Britax car seats have been around a while which is perhaps one of the reasons that people will
consider their products. Having built their reputation on quality, safety and reliability through the
years, the Britax Duo Plus Isofix is a product of their research and engineering skill and comes in four
colour-ways. However, here we will primarily concentrate on the seat’s safety points.
You may have noticed the ‘ISOFIX’ tag on the name. ISOFIX is a fairly new standard that car
manufacturers and seat producers are required to adhere to. It stands for the International
Standards Organisation FIX in Europe or LATCH in the United States and LUAS or CANFIX in Canada.
Since 2006, cars have standardised ISOFIX fittings and these fixings provide a rigid connection
between the seat and car that simply click together easily to form a strong, sound connection. As
badly fitting car seats have been reported to be a problem in motor accidents between 70 and 80%
of the time, an ISOFIX fitting will greatly reduce the risk of injury due to a badly fitting seat. Cars built
prior to 2006 may have ISOFIX fittings, but you will need to check with the manufacturer as these
may not be standard.
Included on the Britax Duo Plus ISOFIX are indicators to confirm the ISOFIX hooks are firmly engaged
and a ratchet system to ensure the installation is solid. The seat has a unique “Pivot link” system and
this will reduce any forward movement of the child in the case of an accident. The 5-point safety
harness further diminishes movement and is secure and easy to use
