Enjoy Shopping Again @ The Cotton Company - How To Use History To Add
To The Shopping Experience
The Cotton Company uses it's unique historical setting to enhance the shopping experience. An
interesting video on the history of the sprinkler system salvaged in the historic preservation of the
building as an old cotton warehouse. Surprisingly the video tells the "real story" behind the
purpose of the sprinkler system and it has nothing to do with preventing fires or explosions. The
system came about for another unrelated purpose and earned an employee a new 1957 Chevrolet
in the process.
Wake Forest, N.C. (PRWEB) October 20, 2009 -- The Cotton Company in historic downtown Wake Forest, N.C.
uses the buildings' unique history to entertain and educate about the town and the actual Cotton Company
building itself. The restoration of the building resulted in the Anthemion award for attention to detail in historic
preservation. The customer can not only shop, but actually enjoy shopping again, as they learn of the building
history, as well as the history of the community and town of Wake Forest.
This video is only one of several on the Wake Forest video history series on the web site that tells the interesting
story of how the restored sprinkler system, saved in the restoration of The Cotton Company, had no relevance to
safety but was there to preserve profits of the former owner of the warehouse. A unique story that resulted in one
employee being given a new 1957 Chevrolet for his knowledge of how to make the cotton merchant financially
secure.
The Cotton Company is an eclectic collection of crafters, entrepreneurs, artists, jewelers all together in an award
winning restored cotton warehouse in the historic downtown of the original home of Wake Forest University.
